God's Love For Us

When I think about the Earth and all of God’s creation, I find myself singing the sweet children’s song, He’s Still Working on Me. The chorus goes a little something like this:

He’s still working on me
To makes me what I ought to be.
It took Him just a week
To make the moon and stars,
The sun and the earth
And Jupiter and Mars.
How loving and patient He must be,
He’s still working on me.

It’s hard to image what nothing looks like. We are surrounded by… everything! Everything we see and get to enjoy has come from God. The birds singing outside of my window on this beautiful spring day, my “pup” laying in the puddle of warm sunshine on the floor, the rich scent of fresh picked flowers giving off their aroma in the antique vase my grandma gave me… All of those things God made and chose me to be the recipient of those blessings!

Did you know that God put you and me on this Earth to take care of it? With the many blessings God has bestowed on us, He has also given us the responsibility to take care of those blessings! Genesis 2:15 talks about how God put Adam in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care it…

God cares for the Earth and He uses you and me to take care of it!

What’s amazing to me, though, is how the God of the universe can take care of the entire world… all of the animals, all of the plants, all of the atoms… and yet He still cares for me! In fact, I am more precious to Him than all of his other creations. He has set me apart. Made me special. Made me unique in every way! And you, too! Isn’t that an amazing gift?

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs on your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. — Matthew 10:29-31 More valuable than many sparrows… He knows the number of hairs on my head and on yours and on our children’s. He knows every thought that is running through my mind and yours and our children. He knows when I was born and when I will die, and you, too. He loves me and cares for me! Just as He loves every one of His kids.

Let’s teach our children about how God created the Earth and how He has put us here to take care of it… but even more importantly, let’s teach our children about how God loves them above all things!

A great resource to use to teach this to your children is the
God’s Love for You Bible Storybook. God loves the Earth… and He loves His children, too!
