Jesus Calling Morning and Evening Devotional

Morning

It is impossible to praise or thank Me too much. As it is written,

I inhabit the praises of My people.

Sometimes your adoration is a spontaneous overflow of Joy, in response to radiant beauty or rich blessings. At other times your praise is more disciplined and measured — an act of your will. I dwell equally in both types of praise. Thankfulness, also, is a royal road to draw near Me.

A thankful heart has plenty of room for Me.

When you thank Me for the many pleasures I provide, you affirm that I am God, from whom all blessings flow. When adversity strikes and you thank Me anyway, your trust in My sovereignty is a showpiece in invisible realms. Fill up the spare moments of your life with praise and thanksgiving. This joyous discipline will help you live in the intimacy of My Presence.

Verses for the Day:

But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. — Psalm 22:3 (KJV)

Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. — Psalm 146:1-2 (NIV)

Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. — 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)

Evening

Even the greatest blessings can fail to bring Joy unless they are received with gratitude. Just keep coming into My Presence with thanksgiving. Your persistent thankfulness may actually provide the long-awaited key I will use to unlock major difficulties in your life.

Verses for the Evening

Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations. — Psalm 100:4-5

You now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. — John 16:22

Also read: Psalm 107:21–22 (NKJV)

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing.

Before You Turn Out the Light

Thank Me, not only for obvious blessings but for the situations you would never have chosen. This is true trust.
